Palm/Explore is no longer in service
After almost three years of dedicated service to the NCCS user community, the Palm/Explore cluster has been decommissioned on September 30, 2008 and will be replaced with a new system.

The most recent NCCS User Forum was held 25 Sep 1:30-3:00 PM in GSFC Building 33, room H114. NCCS staff presented recent improvements to HPC systems and services and discussed issues of concern to NCCS Users.

New NASA Supercomputer Will Play Critical Role as Scientists Simulate Climate, Weather and Solar Activity
The NCCS has selected an IBM iDataPlex cluster-style supercomputer, which is being integrated with the existing "Discover' cluster for a combined performance of 67 trillion calculations per second (teraflops).

Science Time Requests Due September 20
The Science Mission Directorate (SMD) is selecting from requests submitted to the e-Books online system for awards beginning on November 1. Current projects set to expire on October 31 must have a request in e-Books to be considered for renewal. Although the deadline has passed, the SMD will still consider late requests. However, there is no guarantee that a late request will be approved by November 1.
